Mark Coles, of Boating Georgian Bay, will continue his talk on cruising this great Canadian waterway and other topics pertaining to boating in Canada

This leg of The Perch's Great Loop was a fairly long day for us -- over 60 miles. We stayed at our usual 8-10 knots for most of the day, with the exception of a short period where we went faster to blow out the engines. We arrived at Trent Port Marina, an AGLCA sponsor that offers great amenities!

Today's leg is our first on the Trent Severn Waterway which is a highlight for many Great Loopers. We'll travel only 6.5 miles today, going through 6 locks, and taking about 4 hours to do it. Then we'll spend the night tied to the wall above Lock 6 where power is available. This is the first of several legs on the Trent Severn. Follow along as we cruise this historic waterway that includes some of the most unique locks on the Great Loop.

This leg of The Great Loop Aboard The Perch includes six more Trent Severn locks and some beautiful cruising as we go from Frankford to Campbellford with perfect July weather in Canada. The locks were a tight fit for us when we entered along with See Life (at about 50') and Tug Life (at about 25'). We ended the day tied up at the town wall in Campbellford, Ontario.

This was a smooth, easy day of cruising thanks to the other three Looper boats that we locked through with -- Nautoncall, See Life, and Tug Life. Everyone melded seamlessly together and rafted up to lock through the six locks between Campbellford and Hastings. The day ended with a special thank you to Pat & Jeremy at Lock 18 who gave a very thoughtful gift to AGLCA that we carry with us onboard The Perch.
