Great Loop Lifestyle - Peterborough, Ontario

Peterborough is one of the larger cities on the historic Trent-Severn Waterway. As usual, we show you things to see and do within a mile of the marina. In addition, Peterborough's claim to fame is the Peterborough Lift Lock, an engineering marvel opened in 1904. This video explains how the Lift Lock works, takes you to the control booth at the top of the lock, and even gives you a peak under one of the chambers as it lowers 65-feet in 90 seconds.

Following several years in various roles within the America’s Great Loop Cruisers’ Association, Kimberly Russo became Director of AGLCA in 2015. She has presented on the Great Loop at many of the nation’s largest boat shows, including Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and New England, as well as TrawlerFest and Cruisers’ University. Kim’s own Great Loop adventure was finally realized! She officially began the Loop in February of 2022 from Fort Myers, Florida aboard The Perch, a Silverton 410 Cockpit Motor Yacht, and she crossed her wake there in February of 2024. Before beginning the Great Loop, Kim’s boating experience was primarily in and around her home waters of Charleston, South Carolina where she has lived and boated for more than 25 years.
