With the opening of the Erie Canal being delayed weeks due to a weather-related high-water event, AGLCA will present a webinar providing the latest update from the New York State Canal System as well as a route briefing on the Lake Champlain route. This webinar is being timed so Loopers in the area can get the most up-to-date information.
Kim Russo, AGLCA’s director, is in contact with officials at the New York State Canal System and she will offer insight on the Erie Canal's status while Gold Looper Aubrey Smoot (ShoreBilly Too) will present the route briefing, Waterford to Ottawa via Lake Champlain and Montreal.
After enjoying the beauty and wonders of New York City and the mighty Hudson, you will be faced with one of the larger route decisions on the Great Loop. Just above Albany and Troy, New York is Waterford, New York where the Erie and Champlain Canals begin. Your decision is between the history and quaint towns of the Erie or the magnificent beauty of Lake Champlain and the path straight into Canada where waterways are pristine and the cities are spectacular. This segment will discuss the latter featuring Lake Champlain, the St. Lawrence River, Quebec City, Montreal and Ottawa and all the canals, rivers and adventures that connect them.
This webinar is free for AGLCA members.
Upon registering, you will receive the Zoom link for the webinar but you will also be able to find it in "My Events", which can be found under "My Account" on the homepage menu bar of the AGLCA website when you are logged in. Just click "View Booking" by the appropriate event to see the Zoom link.
Registration closes on Sunday, June 1st at 5:00 p.m. eastern.
