What is the Great Loop?
It's a 6,000 mile circumnavigation of the eastern portion of North America that our members cruise aboard their own boats. The route, which is primarily comprised of protected waterways, takes you through 15+ states and provinces, and includes the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Chesapeake Bay, the New York State Canals, the Great Lakes, the Canadian Heritage Canals, the inland rivers of America’s heartland, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Whether you're dreaming about, planning for, currently cruising, or have completed the Great Loop, you've come to the place where information, inspiration, and camaraderie abounds! After a $15 joining fee, new one-year memberships are $79, and multi-year memberships enjoy discounted rates of $150 for two years, $213 for three years, or $625 for a lifetime membership.

There are many benefits of AGLCA membership and many are listed below. In a nutshell, AGLCA membership offers you more information for planning and cruising the Great Loop, in an easy to digest format, than you'll find anywhere else. And don't underestimate the value of the connections you'll make with other Loopers by joining us. Looper camaraderie is legendary and it can start well before your departure on the Great Loop.

AGLCA's members-only discussion forum is the place for accurate, in-depth, Great Loop info. Take a deep-dive into all things Great Loop. Cut through the noise on other sites and social media. Ask questions and get detailed answers from veteran Loopers.
Help When and Where You Need it: Our Harbor Hosts
Harbor Hosts are volunteers who lend a helping hand to other Loopers as they pass through their home ports. Members in need of local knowledge or assistance, or who just want to say hello to a Harbor Host on their way through, reach out via phone or email. Hosts can be found on the Great Loop interactive map. Harbor Hosts provide advice and information on local services and things to see and do. Some go above and beyond by offering rides for provisioning, or will meet you at a marina to enjoy Docktails. Many Harbor Hosts have also provided written Harbor Guides about their areas, available here on the website.

The benefits are hugely helpful for those dreaming about or planning for the Great Loop, but we think it's the sense of community that makes AGLCA special.
