Welcome to AGLCA's Virtual Docktails where Loopers can connect on special interest topics! Each Zoom social breakout room will be hosted by a Gold Looper or a representative from AGLCA. The groups are intended to be interactive and fun with no structured agenda or presentations!  For the June event, the breakout room topics are below.

Looping on a Budget

Can you do the Great Loop without breaking the bank (especially with rising fuel prices?) This Virtual Docktails group is all about exploring what it really looks like to Loop on a budget. From choosing the right boat and managing fuel costs, to finding affordable dockage, anchoring strategies, and handling day-to-day expenses, we can discuss all the practical ways to make the adventure more financially approachable.

We can also talk about where it makes sense to spend, and where you can save, based on real Looper experiences. Please join us, whether you’re planning your trip, already underway, or just curious about the true cost of the Loop. Share ideas, ask questions, and learn how to make your dream trip work within your budget!

Ladies on the Loop
Ladies, please join us to connect with other women about the exciting times you've experienced preparing for or cruising the Loop! You never know what will come up in this group...restaurant recommendations, grocery shopping tips, where to get your nails done, how to help with boat maintenance...you name it, and the Ladies of the Loop have discussed it!

If you're not sure you're ready to be a "Lady of the Loop", this group is also for you! It will be a great place to discuss any concerns and get some virtual support from those who've gone before you!

Trent-Severn Waterway
For many Loopers, the Trent-Severn Waterway becomes one of the most memorable and talked-about sections of the entire Great Loop. From hand-operated locks and scenic small towns to the famous Big Chute Marine Railway, this stretch offers a cruising experience unlike anywhere else along the route.

Whether you’re planning your first transit, debating route timing, curious about marina stops, navigating lock etiquette, or simply wanting to hear stories from those who’ve done it, this breakout room is the perfect place to swap advice, share favorite moments, and talk all things Trent-Severn with fellow Loopers.

Lakes Erie and Huron

While many Loopers choose the Canadian route through the Trent-Severn or North Channel, others opt to remain stateside through portions of Lake Erie and Lake Huron. This route comes with its own unique planning considerations, weather windows, marina stops, and cruising experiences.

Join fellow Loopers to discuss route options, harbor favorites, crossing strategies, timing, and what to expect along this less-traveled path of the Great Loop. Whether you’ve already completed it or are still weighing your options, this breakout room is a great place to learn from others and share firsthand experiences from two of the Great Lakes.

Great Lakes Weather
If there’s one thing every Great Lakes boater learns quickly, it’s this: weather matters. Conditions can change fast, forecasts don’t always tell the full story, and understanding how to safely plan around wind, waves, and conditions is one of the most important skills for a successful Great Loop adventure.

This breakout room is designed for sharing real-world experiences, favorite weather resources, forecasting tips, and lessons learned while cruising the Great Lakes. Whether you’re nervous about your first big Lake or you’ve already battled a few surprise weather days, join the discussion and learn from fellow Loopers navigating the same challenges.

During the registration process, you will inidicate which breakout room you plan to attend but you will also be able to move to another breakout room during the event if you choose to do so.

Upon registering, you will receive information about your Zoom link for the virtual docktails but you will also be able to find it in "My Events", which can be found under "My Account" on the homepage menu bar of the AGLCA website when you are logged in.  Just click "View Booking" by the appropriate event to see the Zoom link.

Registration closes on Wednesday, June 17th at noon eastern.
