Welcome to AGLCA's Virtual Docktails where Loopers can connect on special interest topics! Each Zoom social breakout room will be hosted by a Gold Looper or a representative from AGLCA. The groups are intended to be interactive and fun with no structured agenda or presentations! For the February event, the breakout room topics are below.
Tides and Currents
Tides and Currents are, perhaps, the most underrated challenge on the Loop. As this year's fleet approaches the Atlantic ICW, these will become a hot topic: Tying lines on a fixed dock where there's a tide. Docking during a slack-tide. Channel depths on the ICW at low tide. In some cases, you don't know what you don't know. If you've never faced the East Coast tides and currents, this is a great way to prepare! Or if you're an experienced boater, please join this discussion to provide guidance for our newer Loopers.
Fleet of '25 Reunion
Calling all Loopers from the Fleet of 2025! Congratulations on being the most recent fleet to cross your wake. Now it's time to reconnect and reminisce. Join us for a great evening sharing stories and catching up with one another. You won't want to miss out!
Ladies of the Loop
Ladies, please join us to connect with other women about the exciting times you've experienced preparing for or cruising the Loop! You never know what will come up in this group...restaurant recommendations, grocery shopping tips, where to get your nails done, how to help with boat maintenance...you name it, and the Ladies of the Loop have discussed it! If you're not sure you're ready to be a "Lady of the Loop", this group is also for you! It will be a great place to discuss any concerns and get some virtual support from those who've gone before you!
Loopers With Pets
Calling all Loopers with furry or feathered crew members, this docktails is for you. BYOP (Bring Your Own Pet) and get to know other Loopers who share your love of pet hair on boats! Future Loopers with pets are welcome to join and learn all the tips and tricks!
Honey I Bought a Boat
We see this often. Loopers join the AGLCA. They buy a boat. But then, Step 3 isn't always clear. Do you practice? Plan? Provision? Or find a buddy boat and toss your lines? While there isn't a wrong way or even a most common way, many Loopers find it reassuring and helpful to hear what others do once they buy the boat. Join us for this fun discussion on the post-purchase period. We'd love to have a mix of seasoned Loopers willing to share their experience, as well as new members excited to map out their next steps!
Q & A With AGLCA Director, Kim Russo
What questions do you have about AGLCA? Would you like to know how to maximize your membership? Or how about our advocacy efforts or becoming a Harbor Host? Maybe you need to know about participating in discussion panels/forums or navigating our app? Kim will host this room to answer anything you'd like to know about your membership, all things Loop, or even why she has a bird on her boat!
During the registration process, you will inidicate which breakout room you plan to attend but you will also be able to move to another breakout room during the event if you choose to do so.
Upon registering, you will receive the Zoom link for the virtual docktails but you will also be able to find it in "My Events", which can be found under "My Account" on the homepage menu bar of the AGLCA website when you are logged in. Just click "View Booking" by the appropriate event to see the Zoom link.
Registration closes on Wednesday, February 18th at noon eastern.
