Ocean Alexander 450 Classico For Sale
But now, sadly, It’s About Time for us to let her go to another captain and crew. We still love cruising her, but a growing family (i.e. grandkids) and a desire to pursue non-boating activities before we age out of the opportunities leads us to put her on the market. She is being offered for sale in Norfolk, VA, for $239,000.
Features
Sedan styling has cockpit, salon, galley, and inside helm all on the main deck level, making it easy to get around even in an active seaway. Just three steps take you down to the two staterooms and heads. The master stateroom with pedestal centerline queen berth is all the way forward, with the guest stateroom to port just abaft of the master. The two heads are to starboard just across the hallway from the guest quarters, with a single stall shower between the two heads. Gear storage is generous.
Galley - Kenyon three-burner electric cooktop with vent fan over, Norcold AC/DC fridge/freezer (new in 2022), KitchenAid convection microwave (new in 2022), stainless steel double sink, granite countertops, all teak cabinetry.
Salon - L-shaped settee with leather upholstery aft to port. Just forward of the settee on port side is a bar cabinet and the U-Line ice maker. The ice maker head was replaced in 2023. The traditional OA teak Hi-Lo table provides dining space for four (six if you’re friendly). Starboard side has an all-teak TV/stereo cabinet that we use for document storage. Just forward of that is the teak cabinet enclosing the vented Splendide washer/dryer, which was replaced in 2022. The Samsung flat-screen TV is bulkhead mounted on the half-bulkhead that separates the salon from the galley.
Inside helm - Starboard side forward. Full engine instrumentation, MFD, autopilot, and depth sounder, VHF radio. Custom-made teak holder for your navigation tablet with nearby 12V plug to keep it charged. Morse cabled controls for throttles and gears. And, of course, the beautifully crafted teak wheel common to all OAs. There is a sliding door to the starboard side deck beside the helm, allowing the skipper to help the crew with docking/locking maneuvers if needed.
Exterior, main deck - side decks with fiberglass overheads for rain protection on both sides, connect the cockpit with the foredeck, allowing crew to easily walk all the way around without difficulty. Except on the foredeck, waist-high bulwarks integral to the hull provide for crew security during deck work. On the foredeck, waist-high 1 1/4” stainless steel railing keep crew secure. Bow pulpit has two anchor pulpits served by a Maxwell VWC1200 windlass. Current ground tackle is a 33 kg (73 lb) Rocna anchor with 150’ of 5/16 galvanized chain and 150’ nylon 3-strand rode (300’ total). This tackle has proven to be very reliable. We sleep well at anchor!
On the main deck level aft is a cockpit with seating space - spacious for two, decent for up to four. Beneath the cockpit is a cavernous lazarette accessible through a hatch in the cockpit deck. Entry to the salon from the cockpit is through a solid teak-framed glass door, which is the only exterior teak on the boat. The door was wooded and revarnished (7 coats) 6 months ago.
Fly Bridge - Accessed by stainless steel and teak ladder from cockpit. Centerline helm with stainless steel wheel, centerline Garelick helm chair and matching admiral’s chair to starboard. Full engine instrumentation. Two MFDs, autopilot and depth sounder heads, VHF radio. Plexiglass-covered chart storage. L-shaped settee with Sunbrella upholstery with seating for 4-5, with storage under. Generous storage inside/under helm, accessed via double doors on both sides. Boat deck for tender with crane aft of settee, with stainless steel railing all around.
Electronics - All navigation and communication electronics were replaced by the prior owner in, I believe, 2017.
