Hello fellow loopers, my name is Michael Koch, I am a retired healthcare professional with no schedule. If you are traveling solo and need a deckhand to help with docking and locks (or even if there are two of you but you feel more comfortable with an extra set of experienced hands) I am available to help at no charge. My most recent assists include the move of a Moody 37 sailboat from Bayfield WI. to Mobile this past fall and then assisting another captain who’s wife wanted to stay at home on dry land while he finished his loop from Demopolis to Stuart Florida this past winter on his Sabre 47. I am again available to help you as you persue your dream of adventure circumnavigating the great loop. I have boating experience from pontoons to sailboats to motor yachts and have a sixth sense when it comes to navigation. I have experience crossing the Great Lakes, the inland river system, crossing the gulf, traversing Okeechobee and several sections of the ICW as well as having lived in NYC and along the Erie Canal in upstate NY. I am presently living near Michigan’s West coast. I have references from previous captains available as well as multiple useful talents, one of which is being an extremely good cook. Additional information
I don’t charge any fees for my help however I do ask that you provide the initial transportation costs to your boat and it is customary that the captain provides all provisions.
