What's New in the AGLCA Forum?
We know many of you enjoy connecting with each other on Facebook to get real-time information about what's coming up on the waterway, where docktails will be held this evening, and share wake crossing announcements. But it's not always best to rely on the information being populated on your feed.
On Facebook, algorithms rule
While Facebook is a great place to connect, the information that appears on your feed is determined by Facebook. The social media site has many algorithms that control what content is presented to you. Depending on settings, Facebook may automatically filter the posts and show you what its algorithm deems to be most relevant, including in our Members Only group where we share waterway alerts and other important information.
The Forum doesn't have algorithms
ALL posts in the forum are there where you can easily find them, either by viewing them directly on the website, or by reviewing the daily forum email. You can also search keywords to pull up specific conversations related to topics that may be important to you.
What's in the forum right now?
Many of our in-progress Loopers are currently in Canada and the Great Lakes so many of the conversations are centered around that portion of the Loop. This includes things like:
- Heated storage on Lake Michigan
- Preferred Chicago area marina to meet Loopers headed down the rivers in September
- Starlink Mini in Canada
- Peterborough Docktails
- Clayton NY to Ottawa River to Rideau Canal and back to Kingston
There is so much great stuff in the forum! We encourage you to keep an eye on the Forum, either through the daily forum email sent to each member, or by visiting the forum directly here.
I'm not receiving the daily forum emails
The most common reasons members aren't seeing the daily forum emails are:
- They are routing into your spam/junk mail folder.
- You haven't visited the forum directly on the website. The forum is programmed to send the daily emails to everyone who has visited the forum at least once. So, if you aren't receiving the emails, login to the website, and then click on Forum from the Interact Menu. Once the site drops you into the forum, you should begin receiving the daily email the following morning.
