The Voyages of QE II: Our 3-summer journey through the Great Lakes, along the Down East Loop and back.
Beginning in the summer of 2023 Larry and Elizabeth Hunter-Blank embarked from Chicago, traveling along Lake Michigan and the US shoreline of Lake Huron and Erie before circumnavigating Lake Ontario.
The following year, they completed the Down East Loop, traveling up the St. Lawrence Seaway into the Atlantic, around the Canadian Maritimes and New England, passing through the channel at Cape Cod. They then traveled through the Long Island Sound, up the Hudson River and concluded their second year via the Erie Canal for a second winter in Rochester, NY.
In 2025, their third and final year, they sailed the Canadian waters of Lake Erie, the Georgian Bay, North Channel and Lake Superior before returning along the shore of Wisconsin to “Sweet Home Chicago”.
This is a collection of their daily blog maintained over those three summers.
