Home-Built 59ft Diesel/ Hybrid Trawler Houseboat in Edenton NC
Unlike production yachts, AMERICA was handcrafted to capture the romance and elegance of historic steamships while integrating modern systems and efficient diesel-electric technology. From the moment she comes into view, her classic silhouette, elevated pilot house, and handcrafted details create a commanding presence that turns heads wherever she travels.
Built using premium cold-molded construction by Brooklyn Boat Yard of Maine, the hull consists of four layers of cedar over robust fir framing and is reinforced with titanium gussets and structural bolted connections throughout. The hull is fiberglass encapsulated, combining the warmth and beauty of traditional wooden yacht construction with modern durability and protection.
Powered by twin Volvo Penta D2-50 diesel engines integrated into a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system featuring four electric motors, three 96-volt battery banks, and approximately 3000 watts of solar capability, AMERICA delivers unique efficiency and cruising capability while maintaining her historic styling and personality.
The vessel also incorporates antique architectural elements, reclaimed materials, custom woodworking, stained glass, and handcrafted details throughout, creating a warm atmosphere rarely found in modern vessels.
