2023 NY State Canal Navigation Season
The New York State Canal Corporation today announced that, conditions permitting, all portions of the New York State Canal system are scheduled to open Friday, May 19, 2023, at 7:00 a.m. for the 199th consecutive season of navigation.
There are no tolls or fees for recreational use of the Canal system this year.
Additional information about this year’s season, including hours of operation, will be issued in subsequent Notices to Mariners.
The Canal Corporation and Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) are continuing their collaborative effort to mitigate the potential spread of the round goby, an aquatic invasive species (AIS), to the Lake Champlain Basin. Mariners may learn more about the State’s comprehensive plan and how they may help by visiting here.
The Canal system will close to navigation on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.
