This fund has been established to help cover the expenses of preserving the freedom for boaters to drop anchor in Georgia. Its primary use will be to hire a lobbyist in Georgia to work on a legislative change that will correct the consequences of 2019's HB 201
, which, among other things, gave the Georgia DNR the power to determine where boaters can anchor, and its subsequent Administrative Order
that prohibits anchoring within 1,000 feet of any structure, such as wharfs, docks, piers, pilings, bridge structures or abutments. The bill already filed to provide relief is HB 833
, and our lobbyist will be working to help ensure its passage.
We encourage you to contribute today to help keep anchorages in Georgia open for boaters.
A few things to note:
1) Your contribution to this fund is NOT tax deductible.
2) Any funds collected in excess of what is needed per the contract with the lobbyist in Georgia will be used for additional advocacy efforts in that state and possibly elsewhere.
3) The login button you will see at the top of the contribution screen is meant for members of America's Great Loop Cruisers' Association only. If you are not a member of that group, simply scroll down and fill in the needed information to make your contribution.
