The journey from Shady Harbor to Waterford included the first lock of many that we will travel through. It's called the Troy Federal Lock located in the city of Troy on the Hudson River. The lock opened in 1916 and was one of the first modern locks along the present day canal system. It's operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
Water rushing out of the lock on the left and the lock itself on the right.
After passing through the lock, we continued on to Waterford. I love these little towns. We stayed at the city dock which was free and had power and water hookups......Awesome....can't beat free!
There was a farmers market on Sunday and they showed a John Wayne film Saturday night on the side of a building that we were able to watch from the back of the boat. "Life is Good"
We took a walk around an island across the canal, saw some wildlife and rapids.
On Monday June 12th, we headed for Mechanicsville.
