Live Route Sessions & Recorded Looping 101 Sessions

This year's Virtual Rendezvous will include Route Sessions covering the Illinois Waterway to the Tennessee River, the Tenn Tom to Mobile Bay, Mobile Bay to Tarpon Springs and Tarpon Springs to Fort Myers.  All Route Sessions provide navigational tips, ideas on places to tie up or anchor, things to see and do, etc.  Route Sessions will span over the course of three weeks (October 8th-22nd) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

In addition to the Route Sessions, there will be a Best of the Loop presentation by Kim Russo that will kick off the Virtual Rendezvous.  This session gives attendees a basic level of knowledge about the Great Loop that can be used as a foundation for the rest of the event.  Kim will cover the most frequently asked questions about the Great Loop, share some statistics, and present information about what you’ll see along the way by reviewing what members have listed as the “best of” the Loop in various categories.  You’ll learn about Looper favorite foods, landmarks, things to see and do, and more!  This session will be held on Thursday, October 6th at 6:45pm eastern.

If all of this is too much to take in, don't worry; you'll have access to the recordings long after the live sessions are over.  The registration package also includes access to four Looping 101 webinars.  You'll receive coupon codes that will allow you to watch webinars currently in the AGLCA library or those yet to be produced.  You can get an idea of what types of seminars are available by visiting the AGLCA Webinar Library.

Virtual Rendezvous Agenda

Lunch & Learn with AGLCA Sponsors

At our in-person Rendezvous, we call these Sponsor Show & Tells.  This is a chance for our sponsors to tell you about the products and services they offer that can help you before, during, or after your Great Loop adventure.  The sessions will take place live with three different sponsors presenting each day.  They will also be recorded for attendees to watch at their convenience.  Try to attend live, though, because those who attend all of the Lunch & Learn sessions will be entered into a drawing for a free three-year AGLCA membership extension!  Lunch & Learn sessions will be held from noon-12:50pm eastern on October 13th, 15th, 20th and 22nd.

Social Interaction

Introduction of Loopers: If you’ve been to a Rendezvous, you know that everyone is offered the mic to introduce themselves.  For this session, we’ll break the attendee roster into groups of about 50.  Each group will include Gold Loopers, Loopers in Progress, and Planners.  There will be a host for each group who will moderate as each Looper wanting to introduce themselves tells who they are and another small tidbit, such as their favorite part of the Loop, when they plan to Loop, or what interests them most about the Loop.  Introductions will be given on Tuesday, October 6th at 8:00pm eastern.

Small Groups: As part of our effort to keep it about the people, we’re including some roundtable-like discussions.  In these small group sessions, we’ll connect you with five other couples or solo Loopers with whom you have something in common.  We can’t give specifics until we know who has registered and more about them, but groupings may be based on geography, type of boat, when you plan to do the Loop, who you’re Looping with (such as families or solo Loopers) or some other parameters that provide commonality.  Each group will be facilitated by Gold Loopers who can share their stories and advice.  You’ll leave these sessions with a group of new Looper friends with whom you can keep in contact as you continue your Great Loop plans.  Small group sessions are scheduled for Thursday, October 8th at 8:00pm eastern.

Meet & Greet: This is a virtual opportunity to talk to several Loopers, make connections, and gather information.  Think of it as a virtual docktail party where you’re getting to know your fellow Loopers on a one-on-one basis.  Or, think of it as speed-networking for Loopers. As you enter the virtual “networking” area, you’ll be paired with another registrant for a short amount of time to exchange basic information or perhaps a virtual boat card.  When the time is up, you’ll be paired with another registrant.  Looper networking takes place on Thursday, October 15th beginning at 6:30pm eastern.

Trivia:  Attendees can test their Great Loop knowledge by participating in the Great Loop Trivia Contest sponsored by Michael Martin of Curtis Stokes & Associates.  The trivia contest will be held on Tuesday, October 13th at 7:15pm eastern.

Social interaction activities will not be recorded for playback.

Expo Hall

Visit with our sponsors to learn more about them and how they can help you on your Loop.  You can video chat, schedule appointments to discuss your specific plans, and gather special discount offers.  Just like at an in-person Rendezvous you'll have the opportunity to win a three-year membership extension if you visit with all the sponsors in the Expo Hall.  The Expo Hall will be open on Thursday, October 15th from 6:30-9:00pm eastern.

Swag & More

Welcome Bags:
These have become a tradition at the Fall Rendezvous and this year is no exception.  Registered attendees will have Welcome Bags shipped to them prior to the Rendezvous!  They will include lots of goodies from sponsors including a few extra bonuses:  a "docktail" mixer from Capable Cruising, a snack from Saunders Yacht Works and Rendezvous T-Shirts from Curtis Stokes & Associates. In order to receive a T-shirt, you will need to register by September 13th.

Door Prizes:  The additional gifts you love to win from sponsors will also be randomly given away as door prizes. Prize winners will be announced on October 8th, 13th, 20th and 22nd and prizes will be shipped to winners by the providing Sponsors.

Virtual Photo Booth:  You'll be able to commemorate this unique Rendezvous experience with digital photos that you can easily share with family and friends on social media. You can hop into the booth for your photo keepsake on Thursday, October 15th from 6:30-9:00pm eastern.

Awards:  AGLCA will present awards to the winners for the True North Harbor Host of the Year Award, the Sponsor of the Year Award and the Ron & Eva Stob Volunteer of the Year Award.  Awards will be presented on Tuesday October 20th at 7:15pm eastern.

Overall Event Times
:  The "official" event begins Tuesday, October 6th at 6:30pm eastern, but it will take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening until October 22nd.  The primary content will be presented on those days from 6:30-9:00pm eastern each night.  The optional Lunch & Learns will be from noon-1:10pm eastern each of those days.  All sessions with the exception of social activities will be recorded so you can watch at your convenience if you can not attend every night.  Click here for the full agenda.

Registration Process:  During the registration process, you'll be asked more questions than you typically would for an in-person event.  Please be patient in the process and answer all questions.  This is necessary for us to be able to appropriately match attendees for the Looper Introductions and Small Groups and obtain T-shirt sizes for the Welcome Bags.

Technical Assistance:
AGLCA will be sending LOTS of information regarding the technology being used for the Virtual Rendezvous and the Home Port Crew will be setting up practice sessions to get you comfortable with the virtual environment before the Rendezvous begins on October 6th. You'll start receiving these emails in late September.

Event Emails: Please be sure to add jshea@greatloop.org, krusso@greatloop.org, and mailer@mail2.clubexpress.com  to your contact list or safe senders list in your email account.  Your registration confirmation email, and other important emails leading up to the Rendezvous, will come from these addresses.  We'd hate for you to miss something because our emails land in your spam folder.

Cancellations:
Cancellations received by the cancellation date of September 22nd will receive a refund less a $50 cancellation fee. Registrations cancelled after that date will not receive a refund but will still receive a shipped welcome bag and access to the recordings.
