Opportunities to get involved by becoming a Harbor Host or joining the Speakers Bureau. More to come in the future!
Harbor Hosts volunteer to lend a helping hand to other Loopers as they pass through their home ports. There are no specific guidelines for this voluntary program since it is based on the amount of time you can commit to it. But, potential ways to assist as a host include: offer navigational aid, suggest local things to see and do, educate on area history and interesting side trips, recommend boat vendors, advise on local services, supply transportation, provide a meal or glass of wine, accept deliveries and packages, upload a Harbor Guide to the AGLCA website, send welcome emails to new members in your area (info provided by AGLCA).
If you are willing to serve in this capacity, please sign up. As a host, we will post your information in the Harbor Host section on the website and your contact info will be displayed on our interactive Harbor Host map. Most importantly, you will gain the satisfaction of knowing you have reached out and helped fellow Loopers fulfill their dream.
This group participates in the legislative or other decision making process on issues related to the waterways of the Great Loop, focusing specifically on issues that have a major impact on a required portion of the route. Most recently, this group has worked to prevent the passage of legislation in the states of Florida & Georgia that limited overnight anchoring. Our fundraising efforts will help defray the travel expenses for in person lobbying for staff & volunteers.
This group supports our advocacy efforts by raising funds to defray the cost of lobbyists, travel, and other expenses related to AGLCA's advocacy efforts.
We’re always looking for volunteers eager to speak to groups interested in learning about America’s Great Loop. AGLCA maintains a Looper Lecturer List, which is a roster of members excited about this sort of engagement. We encourage members with interest in speaking, as well as those already doing so on their own, to sign up to speak up! Please put your name on the Looper Lecturer List!
We’d extend your membership by 3 months as a small token of our appreciation each time we match you up and you do ‘speak on our behalf’!
