Long gone 2

Long gone 2's first voyage

We left Tampa Bay on December 5th, after picking up Long gone 2 from Embree Marine.  We knew when we bought her at the end of August that there was work that needed to be done.  Hurricane Irma missed us, but she did delay our repairs.
It was a happy day when we boarded her and headed out on our first real voyage.

We made it to Crystal River, Tarpon Springs, and Steinhatchee by December 10th. We waited for a good crossing of the Gulf and were rewarded with only2 foot seas and smooth sailing into Carabelle.

Sailing along the Intra-coastal waterway, we made it to Dog River Marina on the west side of Mobile Bay, on Christmas Eve.  Cold and windy, windy and cold!  Who tries to head north in December?  We were not the only ones.  We met the Salvage Crew (home port of Guntersville Yacht Club).  We sailed north up the Alabama River on December 29th.  Anchored out at the Alabama River Cutoff the first night, then on to Bobby's Fish Camp where we docked and had a great catfish dinner.  New Year's Eve found us at Kingfisher Marina in Demopolis.  And it was colder!  Water at the marina was shut off.  No pump out either.

It's January 3rd and we are headed back home (Atlanta) until the weather decides to be at least the average.
Hope to be back soon.  Can't wait to get to Chattanooga and Lakeshore Marina where home will be for Long gone 2, until we start the Loop in 2019.
