Charleston to Haul Out for Michigan.

Charleston is our perfect trifecta of tourism..art, history, food. Phil surprised me with a weekend in the elegant Belmond Charleston Place hotel to celebrate my 76th birthday. My sister Beth flew in from Santa Fe and after a speechless moment on my part, nonstop talking and celebrating began. Of the many excellent restaurants, Sorghum and Salt got our vote for most fun and most interesting food. Today we pulled away from the dock with a few tears on my part as it is the dreaded last day of our 6 month ICW Great Loop adventure. Just as I was pulling away from the dock, Phil noticed he had left one of our lines on the dock. A skillful, if I do say so myself, backing maneuver and he was able to retrieve the line. It all provided excitement and a good laugh as we pulled away for our last day. An easy 10 miles and docking at Charleston City Boatworks where Walrus will be hauled out and shipped to home port, Bay Harbor Mi. We will meet her there and look forward to a summer on the Great Lakes. The time has flown and words cannot describe the wonders of this trip, but it has been a memorable special time for our Walrus Crew of Two.
